are dozens of sugar-laden coffees to choose from, not to mention the
calorie-packed whipped cream and milk included. The super sizes offered
can be tempting, and are often filled with an entire day’s worth of
calories, fats and sugars.
If you plan before going to the coffee shop, you can stay focused on your healthy lifestyle. There are a large variety of teas and coffees to select from that aren’t packed with calories, fats, and sugars.
When ordering specialty
coffee, go for Americano, which is a single shot of espresso with
water. You can also choose simple black coffee (that means without
milk). Stay away from lattes, cappuccinos, mochas and macchiatos. These
are the coffees that will be sweetened with syrups and full-fat milk.
As for sweeteners, be sure to say “no" to sugar. If you want to add
flavor to your coffee, you can try using artificial sweeteners instead
that contain few or no additional calories, although these are often
full of chemicals. You can bring your own natural sweeteners with you,
such as Stevia extract or honey.
Tea selections are endless. You can get black tea, green tea, white
tea, oolong tea, English Breakfast tea, Irish Breakfast tea, herbal
tea, chai tea and twig tea, just to name a few. When ordering tea, try
one of the many wonderful natural flavored teas that are now available.
You can add skim milk or soymilk for a different flavor. Additionally,
you can use lemon or honey as wonderful alternatives to sugar.
